Thickness or Elegance of Carpet, Which One Is More Important for You to Choose a Carpet???
Undoubtedly, carpet is one of the very important components of any home and decoration, and choosing the right carpet based on the applications and specifications can revitalize home decoration. In fact, carpet can be compared to a very beautiful painting that makes the floor and home decoration very beautiful and pleasant due to the design, pattern, and diversity of colors. In addition to the beauty of carpet and the sense of freshness and delight that a carpet gives to the home, the main use of the carpet should not be neglected, which is to cover the home floor.

Due to the importance of carpet as the home flooring, the thickness and elegance of carpet are two important features that should be carefully considered when choosing a carpet. In the following, these two important factors will be explained, so stay tuned to Ekbatan Carpet Company (A brand as valuable as machine-made carpet).

Elegance of carpet

The review of the history of machine-made carpet production shows that together with the improvement of machine-made carpet's production and weaving machines, the elegance and attractiveness of machine-made carpets have improved over time. In fact, in recent years, not only carpet has been considered as flooring that can cover the home floor, but also the attractiveness, design and pattern are the main priorities. Carpets were initially produced in low reeds and density such as 320 reeds, 440 reeds and 500 reeds, and with improving the carpet weaving machines, the 700 reeds, 1000 reeds, 1200 reeds, and 1500 reeds carpets were produced. As the amount of reeds and density increases, carpets become more elegant and the design and pattern of the carpets become more delicate, and the machine-made carpets become more similar to the hand-made ones.

Thickness and height of carpet yarn (pile)

Examining the characteristics of the carpets with higher density and reeds shows that with increasing the reeds and density, the thickness and pile of carpets decreases, as the 1200 reeds carpets are less thick than the 700 reeds ones. Carpet thickness is a term for checking the height of the carpet yarn (pile), and the thicker the carpet, the higher the carpet yarn (pile), and vice versa. Now the question arises as to why the carpet thickness decreases with increasing the reeds and density and improving the fineness of the design and pattern. The answer to this question can be given in this way that with increasing the reeds and density, the number of yarns used in the carpet increases and the yarns are used at a much shorter space. In this case, if the height of the yarn (pile) in a 1200 reeds carpet is the same as the 700 reeds carpet, the yarns will be placed on top of each other, the flower and paisley (design) of the carpet will not be seen, and the appearance of the carpet will diminish.

In other words, with increasing the reeds and density, the pile yarn should be finer and, therefore, the pile height should be decreased for the beauty and appearance of the carpet. This is because if the pile is more than the normal and standard, it gradually disrupts the pattern due to the walking on carpet. For example, silk carpets should have a low height pile due to the high elegance of the yarn so that it does keep its beauty.

Thickness or fineness of carpet

Now the question arises whether the thickness or the fineness of a carpet should be considered. The answer to this question depends on where we are going to use the carpet in the decoration and what is the type of use and our view about the carpet. Generally, the carpets of high reeds and density (e.g., 1200 reeds carpets), which have more elegant pattern and are similar to hand-made carpets, are placed in dining room and living room, and the carpets with lower reeds and density (e.g., 700 reeds carpets), which are thicker, can be used in bed room.

It should be noted that the quality of a carpet depends on the quality of the yarn and the carpet weaving machine. In other words, the quality of a carpet has nothing to do with the pile height (thickness) of the carpet, and it is a misunderstanding that thicker carpets have better quality.

By using high-quality raw materials, yarns and modern machines, Ekbatan Carpet Company (The name as precedent as machine-made carpet) produces various types of machine-made carpets that have diverse and standard thicknesses and elegance.
